Judge Slagle is a father, husband, attorney, judge and a lifelong democrat.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, he lives with his wife Joanna and a full house of four children.
Through almost 20 years as a licensed attorney and 11 years as a judge, Judge Slagle has demonstrated his commitment to making sure every person receives fairness and justice.
On January 1, 2015, he took office at JP 2, a court that was incredibly broken, and had lost the trust of the community.

Beginning in week 1, Judge Slagle reviewed each and every department and found areas where the law had been neglected and individuals had not received justice. Every form, procedure and process was brought up to date.
After ensuring that the court was fully compliant with the law, Judge Slagle started changing the archaic way court had been run for years. He spent week nights and weekends at the court envisioning and then creating new processes and procedures where paper is either not needed or can be used minimally.
JP 2 became the first court in Texas to do this. We found that not only did our court save trees, we also started seeing individuals participate in court hearings at a much higher rate. People who may have previously been unable to attend court in person were now able to participate in their cases and seek justice.

11 Years later, Judge Slagle is just as passionate today as he was on day 1 in 2015. Precinct 2 is the community that he grew up in. Helping the people of Precinct 2 navigate some of the most difficult times of their lives is incredibly humbling.
Friends and supporters,
Serving as your judge of Travis County JP Precinct 2 has been the most rewarding experience of my legal life. I would like to continue in my role as your Justice of the Peace at Precinct 2.
